Day of Peace Service
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Global Justice Institute Calls for a Day of Peace Service on Thursday, February 12, 2026
Buddhist monks are walking across America, from Texas to Washington D.C., as a "Walk for Peace" to raise awareness for peace, loving kindness, and compassion, reminding people to choose kindness in a divided world.
The 2,300-mile journey, involving about 19 monks and a rescue dog named Aloka, began in October 2025, spreading a simple message of peace through their quiet, purposeful walk, drawing large crowds of supporters along the way.
The monks are scheduled to arrive in Washington, DC on Thursday, February 12 and the Global Justice Institute is calling for a Day of Peace Service in solidarity with the safe arrivals of the monks. We invite you to choose a time, on February 12, that best fits your church's schedule.
A Day of Peace Service Worship Resource Kit is available by going to https://www.globaljusticeinstitute.org/ and signing up to receive the kit.
